SPINLOCK

Spinlock is a studio head that hails from Vancouver, BC, on the beautiful West Coast of Canada. His musical style ranges from hypnotic darkside rollers to a more melodic brand of dancefloor-friendly Drumfunk, culminating in a unique fusion of a sound he can call his own. A production purist by nature, Spinlock chooses to spend his time behind the boards as opposed to the decks, opting to increase his musical output greatly. 2007 saw the release of his very first vinyl single, the undeniable “I Feel You” on Xposure Records, as his namesake Justin Todd. As Stride’s primary West Coast representative, Spinlock’s breakout release on the label “The Nerve Damage EP” is a well rounded, diverse, genre-leaping four track EP, offering up something for many different tastes. Upon its release, the title track hit the charts hard on trackitdown.com and held down the #1 spot for 2 straight weeks in 2010, beating out releases from top UK labels like Hospital and Technique. Brushing the Top 10 overall, its lead single “Just Like Mist” peaked at #2 on the chart, while the title track consecutively held the #1 position, making it Stride’s highest charting release on trackitdown. With clever and intricate drum programming being the primary focus of much of his material, Spinlock is easily one of the most sought after Drum & Bass artists on Canada’s West Coast.
