Ottawa native Dan Dubois, known by his stage name Schematic is regarded as one of the “must hear” up & coming acts on the Canadian drum and bass circuit by many of his peers. A relatively new artist on the scene, he has already headlined live shows in several of Canada’s key markets and continues to build his repertoire as his body of work evolves. With 5 years of experience under his belt, Schematic is a professional audio engineer, having graduated from the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology with honours. Dan decided to take his career one step further by founding his own company, Schematic Sound and has engineered tracks for artists such as Counterweight and dubstep heavy-hitter DZ. A turning point in his blossoming career was when his smooth soul-laced single “This World” (from his Stride debut “The London EP”) was featured on Bailey’s syndicated radio show on 1xtra. Soon thereafter Fabio was singing his praises on BBC Radio 1, aiding a somewhat viral ascent in traffic for his various projects. With releases already out on Distinctive Beats, Liquid Brilliance and Underground Sounds among others, his releases on Stride have been easily some of the most well received. His contribution to the label collaboration “The Stride EP” turned heads instantly and in 2011, “Something Out There” managed to chart on Beatport and performed well as one of the label’s calling card releases. With such strong support locally, coupled with international tastemakers singing his praises, Schematic is poised to make big waves on a global scale.
